In which G.M. Norton gets nostalgic.
I do love a classic comedy - Some Mother's Do 'Ave 'Em, Dad's Army, Porridge and of course Fawlty Towers. It was through my love of Fawlty Towers that I was also introduced to Monty Python's Flying Circus.
As the years have ticked by though, it seemed to me that as the more marriages that John Cleese racked up, the less funnier he got.
So it was a delight to recently discover some old advertisements he did with the now defunct Compaq, a company aimed at the business computer market.
I believe these are from the 1980s. If you've been around longer than I have, you'll probably remember them the first time round.
Anyway, enjoy!
Computers have certainly moved on a fair bit since these heady days. Next week marks my 20th anniversary in employment - back in 1998, there were only a handful of computers in the office I worked in, which were on these standalone workstations. Whenever I left my desk to go to use a computer, people seemed to be completely baffled. How times change.
