In which G.M. Norton celebrates National Seersucker Day.
On Thursday, 7 June, it was National Seersucker Day. I only realised later on in the day so alas, I didn't get to swan around in seersucker.
Seersucker really is a wondrous fabric, perfect for sweltering days. It was a New Orleans tailor that first made a seersucker suit back in 1909. My beloved collected an award in New Orleans last July and having suffered during the intolerable hot and humid conditions, I'm sure she'd have appreciated some seersucker herself.
It really is a great lightweight summer suit, I love mine.
If you're struggling in the heat, I really would recommend it.
